EPISODE 54: Bible Journaling

Date: 11/4/2020

Questions

All types of journaling, what are we talking about today?

  1. Slowing down in a section of Scripture.
  2. A verse or verses will stick out to you.
  3. Write down your thoughts about the verse(s).
  4. Similar to what I do for my kids and journaling for them.
  5. Write out the verse. Then write out my thoughts.

    Benefits of journaling this way.

    1. Slows you down in Scripture. Easy to read the Bible to check a box rather than to be changed.
    2. You can go back and reread what God’s Word has said to you.
    3. You have something to share when someone asks, “So what is God teaching you these days?”
    4. I actually use my entries in our LG. Instead of discussing the sermon (which does happen from time to time), we mainly share what we’ve been reading in the Bible and what God’s been teaching us.

Some examples from my time in the Psalms in 2020.
