Book Discussion:
- Why this book?
- A group of EPC pastors meet here at Gateway monthly and this is the book we’ve been discussing.
- My Life Group just finished it as well.
- Based on Isaiah 42:3 – a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench
- Who is this book for?
- Anyone who is weary, feeling defeated, in need of encouragement.
- It is an older book, though it’s not terribly difficult to understand, just be prepared for some language you’re not as familiar with.
- What surprised you most?
- (Josh) – The amount of biblical encouragement — true encouragement — that could be crammed into one book.
- He (God) will not only not break nor quench, but he will cherish those whom he so deals. – pg 7
- There is more mercy in Christ than sin in us. – pg 13
- Let us not be cruel to ourselves when CHrist is thus gracious. – 54

- What’s a key takeaway you want everyone to know?
- (Josh) – Read an old book. Let the brothers and sisters who came before us — whose shoulders we stand upon — be an encouragement to your soul and bring refreshment to your spirit.
