Every now and then, I get asked about dreams and whether or not God still speaks through them today.
Instead of arguing one way or the other, I thought I’d share a dream I recently had. I will purposely not use the names of the individuals as they are still serving overseas as missionaries. Here’s what I messaged the individual.

Last night, I had a dream I thought I should pass on to you. It may be nothing, but I would rather share it than not.
I was visiting you in your location. Some others from the church were with me, though I don’t know who. Two locals who work for you were also present. They were black, which didn’t make sense to me right away while I was dreaming.
We were in your home. And trees were blossoming in a garden area. There was specifically a fruit tree blossoming. It had some kind of small round fruit on it.
There was a large wall with a window that looked out into the garden, but you had it covered up. It seemed like it was covered because you were afraid.
I had you remove the covering as there was no need to fear. I felt a calmness and peace at this point in the dream. One (or both?) of the workers ran away when you took down the covering over the window.
That’s all I remember. The detail that sticks out to me the most is the two workers. One (or both) gave me the sense of betrayal or deception.
I will continue to pray for you.

The first reply from the individual mentioned that one of the team members recently left the team due to fear. They also mentioned not being aware of any betrayal but that the government actively pursues local employees to be informants.
A week later, I got a second reply from the individual. They had recently been given a word of prophecy, which involved them entering an orchard with low-hanging fruit.
(NOTE: That’s cool, but it’s not exactly what I thought was the most important aspect of the dream.)
The individual then went on to say…
We do have a large window overlooking fruit trees which we have been thinking we should cover up with mirror film.
And a little later, they said…
On the betrayal side, yesterday we received verifiable information proving that the local government intelligence service is actively attempting to coerce our two house compound employees to be informants. We had assumed that before, but now we know for sure. Thanks for praying.

So, does God still speak in dreams today? You tell me.
* For the record, I did not know that they had two house employees, a window that overlooked a garden, or fruit trees in the garden. I was aware of a garden on their property, but that is the only detail of the dream I had prior knowledge about.
